Komene, a Vietnam veteran, has been involved in organising the Anzac Day ceremonies, first as a parade marshall then as chairman of the organising committee, for the past seven years. I had been to this place a few years ago & it was a more appropriate temperature & the food was much better. Anzac Day committee chairman and co-ordinator Harry Komene, who has organised Palmerston North’s dawn and civic Anzac Day ceremonies, said he expected this year would see more people than ever gather to pay their respects. More than 1700 athletes, 500 coaches and 1000 volunteers will descend on the city. Service at the Cenotaph in Upper Norsewood starting 10am. If the weather is unfavourable the service will be held at the church, followed by lunch.

The service is followed by coffee and morning tea. A service will be held at 10.30, followed by morning tea at 11.30m. At noon onwards, there is a pot luck community lunch and tea. Following the service and prayers, there will be a lunch in Memorial Hall. Service beginning 6am at the War Memorial Hall on Wellington Rd. It partnered with Duke’s Talent Identification Program, and began offering academic summer camps: beginning in 1983, the Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS) for students finishing grades 6-8, bowling bournemouth and beginning in 1984 the Summer Program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth (VAMPY) for students finishing grades 7-10.
